2000 Domaine du Granit Moulin a Vent Reserve

Appellation: Moulin a Vent, Beaujolais, France

Very extracted and deeply-colored for a Beaujolais. Big, forward, fruity, heady nose. Deep cherry flavors. Definitely a Gamay and not a Pinot Noir, but otherwise very Burgundian in texture and feel. Has some nice oak-like nuances, though I'm not sure this wine sees any wood. Still some tannin in the finish: this wine will be even better in a year or two.
