This is a brawny Napa Syrah that's just entering its super-pleasurable drinking phase. Huge, classy structure surrounds deep, complex aromas and flavors that include everything from dark berry and plum/prune fruit to roast beef, black pepper, bittersweet chocolate, tar, vanilla, sweet herbs, and a smidgen of flowers. There is a monster tannic structure underneath it all, but the depth of fruit more than stands up to it. Top-notch Syrah to serve with major meat dishes after an afternoon at the gym pumping iron.
