2005 Zinfandel Maple Vineyard

Appellation: Dry Creek, Sonoma, California

Classy, well-balanced Zinfandel from the famous Maple Vineyard. A bit retiring for my taste, though it is certainly recommended. A field blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Carignane, it displays clean, slightly briary berry fruit flavors with a touch of licorice or tar in the background adding depth, an elegant mouth feel, and good length. It will be interesting to try this wine in a powerhouse year.
