2005 Chardonnay Spring Ridge Vineyard Bee Block

Appellation: Santa Cruz Mountains, California

We've gone through cases of Foxglove Chardonnay (a Varner second label), but this is a step up even from that excellent wine. Very French-like in its weight and flavor profile. Rich, yet with just the right level of balancing acidity to keep it crisp and precise. Graceful in feel, but with plenty of spicey green apple and sweet lemon citrus flavors along with a touch of roasted nuts and Pouilly-Fuisse-like steeliness. (Price estimated.)
